All of YOU is Welcome Here!
Frequently Asked Questions
Reminder: Healing Is An Action Word
We provide a safe space where you can openly explore your emotions, heal, and grow on your journey to wellness.
Your initial intake session will be about 60-90 minutes. After the initial intake, regular therapy sessions last between 45-60 minutes depending on your treatment plan.
It is recommended that you attend therapy once weekly unless your needs require more or less often. In the first therapy session you and your therapist will determine how often you should attend.
Typically, weekly therapy lasts 6 months to 1 year, but some issues can be resolved much sooner. However, more intensive concerns may require additional treatment.
Your ID and insurance card (if not uploaded already) and method of payment. It would also be helpful to have a list of any medications, diagnoses and any mental and/or medical health history.
YES. We work hard to maintain your privacy and confidentiality and if there is ever a breach, we will inform you. Visit our Privacy Policies page for details, or contact us with any questions/concerns.
Please check with your insurance payor or primary care provider to verify referral necessity.
The simple answer is yes! The act on engaging in therapy has been proven to be therapeutic. Healing
begins when you enter a safe space and engage with someone who is able to adequately interpret your
needs, who understands your concerns, and who is accepting of everything you bring to the
relationship.
As unique as you are, so are your concerns. We work to help you determine what is troubling you and
what would work best for you to resolve those issues. Some issues many people explore in therapy
include learning healthy and effective problem-solving skills, increasing self-esteem, coping with life’s
stressors, improving their relationships with partners and family members, healing from trauma,
adjusting to life changes, planning their future, developing their personal identity and loving themselves
more. Although the goal is different for everyone, therapy can help you discover, uncover, and work
towards all of your goals
Yes, you can but we encourage you to first discuss any issues and concerns with your therapist to see if they can be resolved. However, we will support whatever you decide.
With your therapist you will set specific goals and ways to measure those goals along the way. Your therapist will also check in with you regularly to determine your progress in treatment and make necessary adjustments.
Shopping for a therapist can be hard if you are unsure what you want or need. The hard part is making
contact and revealing enough of yourself to determine if they are the right fit for you. We encourage
you to schedule a consultation before committing to a therapist. Most will offer a free phone
consultation, usually lasting 15 minutes. To use that time effectively, ask:
1. How can you help me meet my goals?
2. What techniques do you use?
3. What happens if I have an emergency between sessions?
4. What is your official license? And in what state(s)?
While many unlicensed providers may provide effective counselling/ life coaching services, each state
provides a licensing board to ensure that the provider is practicing in the correct manner, using
interventions based on evidence and working with your best interests in mind. If a provider is not or no
longer licensed in your state, the services they are providing may be illegal and you may not be able to
hold them legally accountable if malpractice occurs. It is your legal right to ask where they are licensed
and even to view their license. If you are uncomfortable asking, you can look them up through their
state licensing board.
