Dr. Hurt is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist with a PsyD earned at Wright State University’s School of Professional Psychology (Dayton, Ohio). 

 

She specializes in Relationships, Trauma, and Identity development but works with clients on many other issues and concerns. She has worked diverse settings including community health, college counseling, neuropsychological assessment, chemical dependency clinics, military mental health, county youth services, correctional facilities, and private behavioral health group practices. 

Dr. Hurt views each client, couple, or family as unique and considers their individual stories and systemic factors (family, identity, social, environmental, self-view, emotional state, physical, and cultural) when helping the client identify their problems and goals for treatment.  Clients are treated from a lens that looks at emotions, solutions, and client strengths to guide treatment and always considers the client as an expert on themselves, essential to healing.    

 

For very specific needs, Dr Hurt may utilize tools and strategies including CBT, DBT, EFT, EMDR, PCIT, TF-CBT, Gottman Principles, Mindfulness, PPP Parenting, ACT, Gestalt, and more.  With a background in Neuropsych Assessment, Dr Hurt also incorporates evidence based assessments to aide in diagnosis and treatment planning.

Madison Anderson holds a Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke.

Madison’s passion for counseling began early in her youth with a desire to nurture those she cared for. She has since been committed to providing invaluable connections and resources to anyone who is struggling. She has lived adjacent to military bases for most of her life and holds a fond desire to work with and support military families in any capacity.

Madison employs a Person-Centered Approach to her training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to provide the most effective techniques in both Individual and Group Therapy. In her own words, Madison's approach, "Caters to the needs of my clients while allowing space for reflecting and understanding significant feelings.

Samantha Smith completed her Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia.

Samantha is a mother and spouse who carries a great affinity for her family, animals, and community. As a military spouse, she understands the constant change and obstacles that life brings our way. Now in her second career, she is dedicated to the service of others, offering understanding and holistic healing of both the mind & the body.

Samantha utilizes a wellness perspective that incorporates your whole body. She applies a collaborative, non-judgmental, psychodynamic, and strengths-based approach to help you move through life feeling prepared and empowered to navigate life's challenges and make meaningful changes.

Erica Johns is a licensed mental health counselor associate and an active counselor in the Havelock, NC area. Erica  holds a Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with an emphasis on addiction from Eastern Carolina University. 

 

She was influenced by her own experiences in therapy to start the journey as a counselor and has worked to dispel the stigma and negative perceptions held within many communities. Her focus has been on working with individuals within and surrounding the military community. As a military spouse herself she understands what the military life can bring. 

 

She has worked in various mental health settings such as hospitals, in person private practices as well as telehealth private practices, and mental health startups. A major focus in her work has been anxiety management and helping her clients develop healthy coping skills, reduce stress and prevent burnout. She likes to meet clients where they are and work towards helping them live their best life. 

Erica Johns, MS, LCMHCA, NCC 

Originally hailing from California, Jacqueline brings her warm West Coast charm to our practice. As a certified dental assistant, she possesses valuable skills and knowledge that enhance our team's capabilities. But Jacqueline's heartwarming story extends far beyond her professional qualifications.

A devoted mother of two, Jacqueline has always placed her family at the center of her life. As a proud Marine wife of 15 years, she has shared in the sacrifices and triumphs of military life, standing alongside her spouse and children. One of her greatest passions is to travel the world and extend a helping hand to those in need. No matter where the Marine Corps takes her, Jacqueline ensures she actively participates in the local community. Her commitment to volunteering, whether it's within her church or supporting military family functions, reflects her unwavering dedication to making a positive impact on the lives of others. Jacqueline's presence in our office adds a touch of compassion, determination, and a commitment to service that we're truly proud of.

Jennie Starr has deep roots in the local community. Born in Craven County and raised in Carteret County, Jennie brings a strong connection to the region and a warm, welcoming spirit to our practice. Jennie's life journey includes a 21-year commitment as a Marine Corps spouse and the joys of motherhood, with one beloved daughter and a delightful granddaughter who brightens her days.

With a solid background in customer service, Jennie is well-equipped to provide the exceptional care and support that our clients deserve.

Beyond her professional dedication, Jennie cherishes her time spent with family, especially her granddaughter. When she's not busy with her family, you can often find Jennie indulging in her creative pursuits, including crafting jewelry, creating quilts, and  sewing. Her diverse interests reflect her creativity, attention to detail, and her commitment to making the world a more beautiful place, both inside and outside our office.
